norfolk golf tour (I wish)

It’s felt very strange this week. At this time of year, I used to spend a few days playing golf, with about 20 others, on links courses on the Norfolk coast (Royal Cromer and Sheringham for anyone interested!). Working in a school has obviously put an end to this for me – the tour is arranged in non-school holidays – and 2006 was the first time I’d missed it for about 20 years. Missing it last year wasn’t too bad because many of my best mates weren’t able to make it either…. but, on Tuesday, I received a text message from Steve+Ken to say they were “on their way” (and how strange it will be without me being there too etc).
Feeling very envious!

these are meant to be the golden years of your life when you more have the time to pursue pleasures such as golfing breaks with good friends. why you got a job tied to school holidays i'll never know! but for those in education (and others) at least 'listen again' to 'hancocks half hour'(bbc 7)-'blackboard jungle'...an episode from 1955. its good to know that the pupils then were supposedly just as unruly as those today.

It's a tough call. I know how much you loved those golf trips. But keep on Steve - you are doing a great thing, making a real difference to young peoples' lives.

Just listened to Hancock, Alan (brilliant!)- only difference is that inter-active touch screens have replaced the blackboards!
Yes, Alice, Ten Tors this weekend (driving a busload to Dartmoor setting off from school at 4.30am tomorrow!).... maybe they'll still be going to Norfolk when I'm 65 Ian!
